Screening:

Each study has a protocol, which is a detailed plan of how the study is to be conducted, that contains additional criteria all volunteers must meet in order to participate. When you call in to our Recruiting Department, a Volunteer Recruiter will discuss the studies we currently have available and ask you a series of questions that will determine if you meet the protocol criteria for participation.

Volunteers who meet protocol criteria are then scheduled for a screening appointment in our clinic. At the screening appointment, volunteers will be provided with detailed information about the study, the study drug(s) and have the opportunity to speak with a Physician about any questions or concerns. At this point the volunteer signs a document called an Informed Consent, which begins their participation in the study.

After the Informed Consent is signed, the screening appointment continues with a complete physical examination that includes vitals, blood work and a medical history. The Medical Team reviews each volunteer’s medical history, lab values and physical exam results to determine which volunteers fully meet the qualification criteria for the study. If a volunteer is qualified but a lab value or two is out-of-range, they will be asked to come in for repeat labs. At PRA, our first priority is the safety of all volunteers. Therefore, you will not be selected to participate in a study if there are factors in your medical history, physical exam or lab values that do not meet the exact criteria set by the sponsor company’s protocol and our Medical Team.  Small snacks are provided once your screening visit is completed.
